The Great Ocean Road (part 1)

This road along the southern coast of Australia is another claiming to be among the most scenic coastal drives in the world. Judging by the # of pictures we took today, there must be some truth to it.

We drove about 140 miles, but with stops all along the way. Some highlights:
- Caught a little of the Ripcurl Pro Surfing competition at Bells Beach (near Torquay, birthplace of Ripcurl and Quicksilver brands)
- "Second breakfast" at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie (we couldn't exactly come back later...😉)
- A couple hours playing in mermaid pools and walking a huge stretch of beach with no one else around
- Lorne, fun sculptures and a playground the girls loved
- Saw koalas in the wild. They make funny grunting noises
- King parrots landed on our hands
- Dinner at Apollo Bay
- Amazing coastline and rock formations around Port Campbell: the 12 apostles, the arch, the grotto, and London bridge
- Overnight in Port Campbell and more coastline in the morning.
- Best park we've seen yet in Australia at Warrnambool

koala sighting
someone offered us a bag of bird seed. next thing we knew there were birds all around us

then it got intense. we gave away our bag and said "adios!" to the birds
This was from the car while driving. It really was mostly all like this.
For size perspective, those are our girls down there on the beach
